I just picked up a 1978 CJ5 with a pretty crappy SOA conversion done to it already. I really don't feel safe driving it down the road not to mention they did not do the high steer conversion along with the SOA. The question is, I have a Dana 44 and Chrysler 9.25" from a 1979 Dodge W150, is it possible to swap those in and go back to being spring under with out have to many problems, are would it just be easier to go SOA and do it the right way. I would probably just buy a 4inch lift kit and and the Poison Spyder Full width kit to move the springs the outboard. The jeep will be a daily driver/mudder, Limited to no rockcrawling.

Just an idea, please post your opinions.

You could go either way, What size tire are you planning to run as that could make that decision for you. SOA doesn't have to be scary. My rig is running SOA with 4" lift springs & I can run well over the speed limit without any problems. I can let go of the wheel & she tracks straight no wobbles. Checkout my images though unless your planning 38" or bigger tire a 4" lift on a SOA is equal to 10" or11" lift.;)

If I kept the SOA that is on there now I wasn't planning on adding more the 4inch lift, but if I went back to spring under when I did the full width axle swap I was probably going to add a 4inch lift. I'm thinking I will just go SOA with full width and do the hi steer the right way. I'm planning on running 36x12.50s.

Sounds good as most full width front axles were setup to run SOA.
The SOA should be fine for 36"s.
I highly recommend the high steer, that's what I run.;)
