We drove through bad hail storms around midnight. The flaps above the doors came loose on both sides of the doors and keep coming loose. There is some padding in the flap. Does this padding go inside or outside of the bows frame or does it matter. The top is wet now maybe when it dries out it will stay put better… padding inside or outside???

Not exactly sure of your description, from my experience a CJ soft top does take quite a beating at freeway speeds. I think you are talking about the Velcro strips coming loose. I have installed 1/2" pipe insulation on that bar above the doors and that seems to help.

I'll take a pic of this later. I think all the velcro needs to be replaced. It's clean but doesn't hold well. We will see what our friends in Ouray think if we ever ever get there. Thanks

The pipe insulation will stop the flap, but it took some muscle - well more than I thought it would, but the top was new - to stretch the top fabric to attach the velcro. It puts some outward pressure on the door though and holds it still at 55. I don't tow so I couldn't say what happens at 70+ mph.
