Speedo gauge

Speedometer works, odometer, fuel, and temp gauges do not work. Blinker arrows blink. Do I need a new gauge cluster or figure out why each individual item doesn't work? I like the looks of the oem gauge and if I have to replace it is there anything I should know about when purchasing one?

If you can hold on to the original, I would recommend it. I replaced my speedo cluster with a Omix-Ada one, and was really disappointed with the built quality.

Are you sure it's the temp/fuel gauges that's the problem, and not the fuel sender, temp sensor, or thermostat? I dropped over $100 on a new speedo, only to find out that I had a bad thermostat, and fuel sender unit. Did they all stop working at once or broke at different times? Are the cluster/brake/Hi-beam/4WD lights working?

If you haven't already, It can't hurt to check all the fuses.

Not sure about the fuel sender but I do know the temp sender is new. I'm thinking it could be an electrical problem. Pulled the bulb out of the back and it's not getting any power. Does the temp and fuel gauge need power to work?

Yeah, there's a power cable going to the fuel gauge, and that gauge also powers the temp gauge. Whats the condition of the cluster. If the unit is all rusted out, you may have a grounding problem.

If it's not a grounding problem, and the fuses are all good, then maybe find a hot wire and splice into it, or run a new line directly to the battery.

The wiring on these old CJ's are a real cluster f***. It took me three months to get all the gauges, and lights working on my CJ5 . Comes with the territory, I guess!

Cluster from the front seems to be in good condition, the back from what I've seen also seems to be in good shape. I've checked all the fuses, so I guess I'll start testing wires. And yes it looks like a birds nest of wires. Almost tempted to take dash panel off and see if I can clean some of that up.
