My dad and I went out yesterday and actually took his Jeep this time. I have a few pics that I will post later.
Saints John trail (That is spelled correctly. The town named after St. John the Baptist and another St. John) is a moderate trail between Montezuma and Breckenridge. Very pretty scenery. Good weather. Broken clouds and no rain till we were leaving. There is a steep climb out of Montezuma and a steep descent into Breckenridge. Interesting thing happened in that the Transfer Case (Dana 300 ) kept popping out of 4L into neutral. Not fun when you are going down a steep hill. This was a new issue. After we got down into the timber and had a potty break, I found one of the hubs wasn't engaged. That was the problem. I now have a new appreciating for the 5.0L Vortec my dad is running. The Jeep has a T-176 and 3.08 gears, running 31" tires. My dad doesn't believe in using 1rst gear, so as we were climbing I would look over a the tach and see the needle around 300-400 rpm, and running well. Never even got hot. Even getting to the trail, running up to the Eisenhower Tunnel (11,100 ft) from Silverplume, it just chugged along at 1900 rpm with ease.
