Starter solenoid location

Any reason that the solenoid has to be located on the fender?

Maybe locate it under the battery tray? Or on the firewall closer tho the center of the engine bay?

Trying to figure out how to "clean up" the wiring.

It's in a nice centralized location where it is. Move it and you'll have a bunch of cable (battery to the solenoid, solenoid to the starter) & wires (ignition wires, wires running to the alternator). It could make more of a mess than it would hide. Besides, this is one of the electrical components that is good to keep easily accessible.

Under battery try would be harder to service and test.
You can install it anywhere to your liking however, the base needs to be grounded.

The factory put it in a good place. Away from road spray and easy to test and replace when needed.
What's your reason to move it?

Just trying to get a cleaner look, fewer visible wires.

I have 2 under my battery tray. Used a piece of angle iron. Ones for starter, other for plow.
