Been a while since I have been here. Hope all is well. Trying to diagnose a weird starting issue. Was intermittent now all the time.
When starting was a single click/clunk and then nothing. Verified battery voltage/charged, checked cables. Noticed sparking from solenoid when starting.

Replaced solenoid and now no click/clunk, nothing.

Just looking for a general direction if anyone has ideas before I start swapping out the starter, switch etc.

Could the starter be pulling too much amperage (looks to be the original)? Jeep has 92k miles so possible orignal I suppose.

Jump the solenoid and see what happens.

Start with that and go from there. You can take the starter out and test that, too.

Could also be your ignition switch.

What's your battery voltage?

A few years ago I had a 1966 C10 that wouldn't start. Did it all...battery...cable...solenoid....starter....bypassed ignition switch.... Was about to set fire to it.

Notice I mentioned cable above...yeah, only the positive one. New ground cable and voila! Started perfectly.

May not be your problem but I've learned to never...and I mean EVER...treat grounds any differently than positives.

Sorry got caught up with other stuff. So I did the bypass and it started, thinking maybe I have a bad new solenoid or they gave me the one for the automatic. When it warms up maybe this weekend will try the replacement.

All starter selenoids are the same. There are no different ones for engines or Transmission .
