84, CJ7 , Auto. I see some type of adjustment screw on top of my steering box. What exactly does that adjustment do?
 
That is the pitman shaft adjusting screw, it adjusts the drag on the pitman arm.

:)That screw is for the Sector shaft and how it preloads the recirculating bearings inside......a fine adjust only at best and will to little to help a worn out steering gear.

There is only 2 adjustments for the box, pitman shaft (also called sector shaft) drag, and wormshaft bearing preload. The adjustment at the top of the box is the pitman shaft adjustment screw. Wormshaft preload is made with the adjuster plug.
