My steering box was leaking pretty good so I ordered a rebuild kit form west Texas offroad and gave it a try myself. I did a lot of research and went to it. Now that it is installed I hear a popping when I turn it to the right. It's about half way from center to far right and only in that spot. I had someone turn the wheel while I checked everything but it sounds and feels like its coming from the box. Anyone have any ideas? I spent a lot of time on that box to make sure it as right. I appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks

I look at the frame for cracking. Do you feel it in the wheel?

I can feel it in the wheel a little. I've had my wife turn the wheel while I looked and felt all the components and it feels like it is in the box. I don't see the box moving . I guess I can take the box back off and take a closer look for cracks. Also I have disconnected the drag link at the pitman arm and turned the wheel and the pop is gone. I'll keep looking.

Well its possible its downstream from the box, or that having no load on the box is making the pop go away. Might need a stethoscope to isolate it.

Does the turning resistance feel tighter or looser now after the rebuild.

It feels about the same maybe a little tighter.
