hey guys just baught a 82 CJ7 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l and auto all steer componants good and ive had a cpl cjs a 75 CJ5 and a 53 CJ3a and dont remember the steerbox steering so slow drives well but steers slow like a bus takes lots of rotations to get the sucker turning is this common it also has a steerbox brace clamped to box

Sounds like time rebuild the steering gear box. The brace is good support.

Many just swap out the stock saginaw gear box with a higher ratio one... Are you sure the PO of your other CJ's never swapped the boxes?
 
some of the FSJ wagoneers used a variable-ratio steering box that is a direct bolt-in to a CJ frame. Try looking for one of those.
