Steering Box Removal

Can anyone tell me the process to remove steering box on 1969 CJ5 with V6 engine?

:)It should come out the top or through the cab as long as there is no top on the Jeep.........all the Transmission covers have to be off and will normally snake through there under the dash...........I have also seen some take it out the bottom which is possible once the steering wheel has been removed......the Jeep needs to be up in the air pretty high..............it's a tight fit either direction!

from the manual:

Remove oil pan skid plate (if equipped)
Remove left exhaust pipe
Disconnect drag link from steering gear arm
Disconnect steering gear box from frame
Remove steering wheel
Disconnect throttle linkage
Remove upper floor pan assy
Disconnect turn signal switch
Jack up vehicle, and remove steering gear and tube column assy down thru the floor pan opening and out from under the venicle.
Simple :D

That's how I did mine. Had to cut the exhaust though.

My V6 has headman headers and didn't have to remove exhaust pipe. Disconnected drag link, removed steering wheel and unbolted steering box. Jeep was on lift so took it out the bottom. Thanks for the information.
