i have manuel steering. is there any other car or truck that uses the same box. it looks like a gm one but not sure.

Just like the power steering boxes, Jeep uses a saginaw manual box. A saginaw will fit from just about any vehicle.

you would really like it if you converted to power steering! Well worth the time to source parts, and I think a PS gearbox will bolt in place of a manual box (?). Bolt on a set of pulleys, a pump, a few lines and you are there!

It almost uses the same parts, the lower steering shaft coupling is different as well as the bracket (and the pitman arm if the box does not come with one).

i would have to get brackets to. the manuel steering really dont bug me now that i am use to it.

$wd, Quadratec and more sell the correct gear box bracket if you ever feel like doing the swap and don't want to scour the scrap yards... :)

Steering box brackets should be the same between the PS and the manual box. The diference between the two are a manual box uses a 3 piece bracket, and the power uses a 2 piece. Just remove the brackets, toss out the tie in plate from the manual, and bolt it back up to the power box. Save yourself $AMC 150 + by not buying an aftermarket heavy duty box.

Didn't know that... I had no idea that you just removed the 3rd bracket... :)

The power box casting has a little swell in the case which interferes with the flat tie in bracket. You just toss it out and use the other two brackets without it. Good to go. I have done two others since I converted mine, and and used the same manual brackets, less the tie plate.
