steering box

first of all im a new jeep owner and enjoy driving and working on it but this has got me a little puzzled.
I replaced my steering box in my 82 CJ7 bought the same box that im replaceing changed brackets and coupling to new box and installed now it seams as if the steering shaft is to short to go all the way into the coupling the 2 bearings are just in coupling

You wouldn't be changing from manual to power would you? If so they require a different coupler!
