hey guys and gals. my new to me 82 scrambler came with out a steering column. the cj/jeep junkyard pool is non existent around me. and people on craigslist think they have jeep gold. so i was wondering what else i can get a steering column out of. would any amc work? i have two stick shift gremlins in a yard near me with decent looking steering columns. and they look like a pretty good match up with the one in my CJ5 .

i get pretty good deals at that one because of the frequency of my withdrawals from them. i kinda know the yard better than the workers. so if one of them will work that would be great. or maybe one of the 90s Chrysler grand Cherokees? what ever can expand my parts pool would be great news.
thanks for taking the time to look.

I have seen people use one out of the Cherokees. They use the older ones without the airbag in them.

Are there any others that just bolt up?

A number of guys convert to the GM tilt wheel, You should be able to find a conversion on the net.

There's some good information on the internet about using a GM column. You have to remember that Jeep pulled parts from other companies and threw them in the Jeep to save money. Steering columns were one of those items.
