Vehicle(s)
1985 Jeep CJ7 Renegade- IL6 -Mopar FI -Tremec 5 speed- Acme hard top- pretty much stock.
My '85 CJ7 has a huge u clamp on the front axle very close to the driver's side wheel. There is no other clamp anywhere that would tell me where the other end should go. I've been told that it goes on the tie rod, others have said the drag link (which is the one the pitman bolts to I think), and others have said that the tie rod is used but the other end is not the axle but on the springs! So I'm very confused. Anyone have a pic of their setup for a stock '85 CJ?

I was looking in my Haynes Repair Manual and it shows the steering damper from almost the center of the tie rod, and connected on the driver side to a "steering damper to spring tie plate bracket". I don't have a picture, my Jeep has been modified and I don't run the stock damper. Some one else here my be able to post a picture.
