Something new under my 79 CJ7 . Large pudle of clear oily fluid. Wiped it up and 4 days later bigger pool. It does not look like it is coming from the high presure line. Steering gear has fluid dripping from it. Do these things just let loose? If so, I dont have the skills to rebuild it, where would I get a new one?

You can get a rebuilt steering box from an auto parts outfit. Cardone is a common rebuilder that supplies many stores. I got mine from a local N.A.P.A., other options are a shop that specializes in rebuilding them. From the reasearch that I have done it is best to let someone else do a complete rebuild.

Replacing the oil seals is not that difficult and NAPA stocks the rebuild kits and seal kits. I think if you are just going this far the hard part is removing it and putting it back in.

You can check the price of a rebuilt steering actuator and decide whether you want to give it a try.:D
