I have an 83 CJ7 . I put new leaf springs on it to get 4" lift and then a 1" body lift. I put 35" tires on it. It developed a popping in the steering column. I replaced the intermediate shaft and it was better for a short time and now something has broken as it won't turn. Ideas?
When a body lift is done a lot of things have to be changed including the length of the intermediate shaft. When I did my body lift I did experience an issue similar to yours but it was solved by a readjustment. There is a coupler down by the steering box that could be your problem, a replacement would be an possible solution, especially of it is the original one. I eventually bought one of those aftermarket shafts which I think is a waste of money, but it does elimate that coupler.
