Newbie here ... both to the forum and to the world of CJ5s! A previous owner of my 79 CJ5 replaced the OEM steering column with a column & wheel from a Chevy S10. I’ve found a OEM CJ5 column and wheel & pulled out the Chevy. Besides the steering shaft itself, what other parts do I need to order to connect the new shaft to the power steering box and the Jeep steering column? Did I mention that I’m new to this mechanic thing too?? Thanks for any suggestions!!

The CJ doesn't use the rag style joint to connect to PS box, not enough room without hitting. The intermediate shaft has splined shafts with u-joint type connection on one end and a bell type connection on the other. The best shaft would be a Borgeson shaft and then Crown or Omix as last resort. It's a fairly straightforward install most of the electrical connections are very close as the column was a GM part used by AMC.

Thanks RiverandSand! Sorry for the stupid question but ... will the Borgeson or Crown come with all necessary parts to make the complete install?

Yes, as long both column and ps box are stock jeep. Sounds like you have column end coverd, if the ps box is jeep (GM) then you are GTG. The Borgeson is a bit spendy but worth it.
