I just bought this 75 CJ5 and can’t seem to figure out why the steering shaft is rubbing on the shock mount. One of the PO’s welded the column, I have no idea why, but I suspect that the angle of the shaft is off maybe because of whatever they did. Any ideas?

Actually, last night, I did just that and it seems to have fixed the issue! The forward driver’s side mount was missing because the hat bracket was destroyed. Thank you for your reply. Now I just have to fix the bolt I stripped in the upper steering shaft u-joint and we should be good I hope.
