I have a 77 that had manual steering. I converted it to power steering with no problems. I believe I used my original steering shaft and coupling. Now I would like to replace the shaft because of play in it. The Morris 4x4 has 2 separate shafts, one for power steering and one for manual steering. My dilemma is which one to get because I used my original manual steering parts on the power steering box. Something does not seem right.

Should I get the heavy duty one. I have stock tires and just use the jeep for plowing my and neighbors driveways.

Also, my grandson has a 77 with no coupling. What is the purpose of it, do you need it?

Thanks.

You need to order a manual shaft.
`76-`86 Manual 3/4" - 36 spline column to 1" 48 spline box.
`76-`86 Power 13/16" - 36 spline column to 1" 48 spline box.

No need for heavy duty unless you climb on the rocks.
Your grandson is lucky he has not broke anything yet, the coupler moves as the body flexes. when you get your new shaft, fix his with your old parts.
