Hi All,

I just replaced the steering stabilizer on my newly acqired '78 CJ5 . This sounds like a dumb question, but is the rod mounted bracket held on by u-bolts supposed to be loose? Mine was/is. It made the install super easy, but doesn't seem right....

Thanks for any advice,

Shawn

Nope

Are talking about the the drag link mount u-bolts? No, they should be tight. If so you may need to adjust it to get the proper shock travel.

Ok, thanks for the replies. Where do I find the correct amount of travel? Or is it trial and error?

trial and error?

Mostly, you don't want the shock to bottom out before the wheels hit it's respective limit bolt. Basically the shock should be centered, half in half out, with the wheels straight.
