- 1985 CJ7, 258 i6, t176 trans, d20 with yukon one price axle and arb locker, d300 trans case, 4in yj conversion lift, 33in tires, 1ton drag link/tie rod.
So the background story, I have a 85 Jeep CJ7 and I had all the suspension replaced and upgraded to Wrangler YJ springs. While doing that I decided to replace the drag link, tie rod and ball joints with 1 ton parts. This jeep is my daily driver but also my weekend off road fun toy (trying to get it on par with my JK). My problem is with the 1 ton steering parts there is not enough room for the steering stabilizer to mount in the conventional spots.
Has anyone ever mounted a steering stabilizer to the axle differential cover using the bolts for it for a bracket then connecting to the tie rod? I will try and post some pictures.
