1981 CJ7 Laredo as built, 1952 Pontiac Sedan Delivery, 1955 Thunderbird, 1958 Airstream, 1996 Tahoe 4X4, 1982 Newell Coach, 1957 Cabin in the Woods what will I work on next?
After replacing the Spring and Shackle Bushings I started to re-install the Steering Stabilizer Bracket and didn't like the way that it was mounted so I left it out for now. It was sandwiched between the Axle Perch and the Lower Spring Mounting Plate. The Pin is only 1/4" long and the Stabilizer Plate is almost 3/16" thick leaving very little of the Pin to locate into the Perch.
Is this normal? is the Rancho RS97345 an up-grade or should I stick with the OEM Cylinder and modify the Mount?
Thanks in advance,
Steve (I used the Energy Bushings, what a difference!)

81, I cannot say for sure, 81s being out of my normal expertise, but any stering stablizer from rancho would be an upgrade to the original. I deal mainlt with early jeeps and I have a collection of stabilizers sitting in the side yard, no two being the same design. I would think a good aftermarket company like Rancho is going to make a better unit than stock.

sounds like how my 83 was, so I would say it's normal. although I don't remember how thick the stock plate was.

Thanks guys,
Sounds like I should install the Rancho Stabilizer. The CJ7 will be towed behind the Motorhome so I do want to make sure that all is safe.
Baja...I am thinking about a Full Floating Axle Kit for my '81 CJ7 , did you say in an earlier post that you had one? or could you direct me.

I know of kits for 71 and older right now, but I can ask a buddy who works in the build biz and was saying about the guys who bought the Warn tooling are supposed to start up soon. BTW what axle, Corp 20?

yep AMC20 . I believe that it is the standard track not the wide track

As of right now, warn is not making a kit, I do not know why but warn got out of the axle shaft business.
And it looks like from a web search, all the existing kits are used up. (lots of threads with guys wanting them)
Tomorrow I will call my friend. One suggestion, call Herm (link in the links section) and see if he is doing anything with that axle. I got my full floating kit for my 67 Dana 44 from him.

I have tried that path already.
Warn sold that to Randy's Ring and Pinion a while ago. I called Randy's and they told me that they have no plans to manufacture it and have no interest in it.
I contacted Herm earlier and he doesn't make anything for this application, AMC20 . Looks like I am looking for a used Axle or an unused Kit somewhere if I decide to do this. I was just hoping for a lead.

I called My buddy and he says that Randy's has their head up their $^%. Seems he has a list of guys who want a full float kit for the AMC20 .
Anyway, with you I know of about 3 more. So if there are this many looking just in my knowledge, how many sets do you think they could sell?

I would agree that there is a market, I will just keep looking.

I might know where one of these kits are. I know it has never been installed but I do not know what condition it is in. I will do some checking and get back to you.

The guy is out of town that has it, could be a couple of days.

I stand by.
Thanks,
Steve
