Do any of you know where to get the steering tie rod for the passenger side that has the extra hole in it that attaches the steering drag link?I am currently upgrading to a Dana 44 and I want to reuse the knuckels from the 44. I have seen pictures were some conversions use a tie rod that attaches the steering and some that attach the steering to the tie rod with a block welded in the tube. I was hoping to find that odd ball tie rod end with the extra hole. any one able to help?:notworthy:

I'm pretty sure I know what your talking about - but what dimensions? Length, distance between the hole and the one end?

Also, what tie rod ends as there are many different ones... :)

What is the 44 out of, what did it have for a tierod.
Are you going to be SOA or SUA? Full width or cut ? Just wondering why you want this type of tierod set up? Give us some info on what you are doing.

it is a 82 Dodge front with flat top knuckels. I am narrowing it so it matches the Dana 30 that it is replacing I measured the tie rod hole at .6'' at the top .52'' at the bottom and .725'' deep(thickness of knuckel) I am going spring over and I am going to keep the Dodge knuckles and brakes. So now I need a way to connect the steering box to the axle. I prefer to stay away from the high steering option what I have found so far is a tie rod bar with a block welded in it near the passenger side to allow the steering rod to connect there or some odd ball tie rod end that has a hole in it that allows you to attach the steering tie rod onto that tierod. I am looking into this because I think it would be the easiest way to solve this problem If you guys have any ideas I would love to hear them:chug:

I can't help but wonder why you don't want to go high steer like everyone else. It seems to be the way to go.
I believe the cherokee has the kind of tie rod you are looking for, maybe even the tj but not sure.
Have you though of just welding up what you want, shouldn't be to hard to do. You can get the reamer to make the hole in the block, some 1 1/4" dom tube and some ends.
I have to say though I would just go high steer if the dodge knuckles are already set up for it.

Wfo concepts has the tie rod you are looking for. I know they sell it in their kits i just dont know if they sell it separately. WFO Concepts

And personally if you alreay have flat top knuckles why not go high steer?

Thanx for the info on WFO concepts they do have the whole hi steer kit for jeeps and the odd ball tie rod end it looks like the machined the threads on to it:notworthy:

Thats so cool I think that site should be a refrence on this site the tie rod I am looking for is the ES2233L thank you so much:notworthy:

Hey guys I took a good look at partsmike.com and he sells the complete steering kit you would need to convert to a Dana 44 on a cj without havig to do any machining. His steering kit is cut to your specs for $270. This is the set up that I will go with. I personally like the use of factory replacement components and not having to do any machine work. It looks like this would save you $300 over converting to hi steer. Thank you guys for the great info you have provided me I will post pics as I go along with my conversion. Happy wheeling:chug:
