Steering WAY too easy!

If I remember correctly my 1st CJ7 (85) when I was in HS was fairly simple to steer but NOTHING like this one! On my way home from work the other day I felt it stiffen a little like it was going to pull to the right then all of the sudden bolt to the right into oncoming traffic doing 50-55mph! Took it straight to the shop and they have no clue whats wrong with it! As he is my bf friend he and my bf have been against me all way when I bought it! Regardless, I took it to my parents and put it on the lift and started tearing into the steering components. We are replacing the gear box & lines....Any other suggestions? Thank you!

If your CJ is lifted or any modifications have been done to the suspension there are many reasons your steering could be sensitive.

you might look a the U-joints in the front axle as well. If they haven't been lubed well over their lifetime, they could bind up and cause these symptoms as well.

Any chance the belt was wet or slipping?

just got my CJ5 on the way home from the buy, did the same thing! almost died! took to the shop , turned out that the wheel bearing were seizing up , stoping the pass wheel from turning thus making it turn right . after new wheel beaings and upper and lower ball joints it stopped , now all i have is a ton of wheel slop.
