Steering wheel getting looser?

I have manual steering with a Grant wheel and what appears to be a stock steering stabilizer. I've had my CJ since March, put about 450 miles on it, and now the wheel has more play in it than before - maybe 1 inch. Not too bad, but more than before. The pittman arm, drag link, and tie rod appear to be solid by hand underneath (to an untrained person like me).
Is this normal or a harbinger of doom to come? Suggestions on keeping the steering tight? Thanks.
