Stock is hot, buy and wheel.
Not sure if it's an addiction, or what, but no matter what my financial state, current work load, or lack of free time and/or parking I'm constantly looking for a new project truck.
For example, a few days ago I thought I wanted another flatfender Willys jeep, but then I realized that I have one and why not look for something different. My first Jeep was a CJ5 and I've had a couple since then. The wheel base is short, the ride terrible, the door hump is annoying, and the visibility isn't great compared to a flat fender, but I think one would be cool to have again. I swore to my pal Frank that if I found one I'd leave it alone and just drive it. not really sure I can do that, but it did make us both laugh. His wife just rolled her eyes.
I think a M38-A1 would be the coolest, stock 4-cylinder, tall skinny stock wheels and tires, maybe an old bellview or 8274 warn winch but that's all.
no lift, no radio, no cage if it doesn't already have one.
no lockers, no power steering, no fancy paint
I'd prefer blue, or orange, maybe brown. I guess red or that cool avacado green would work also.
If I find one I'll take it across the rubicon, then out to the desert, and sleep under the stars.
(I know the photo isn't a CJ5 , but it was the first old CJ pic I could find)
