Hey all...I am curious to know if anyone has information to what the stock tire size is for a '78 Jeep CJ5 that I just aquired? Also, are there still stock tires out there that are available? Were they military looking tires? Trying to give it that authentic look based on what it looked like back in the late-70's. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated! :D Thanks!

I know AMC installed the later CJs with the Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tire in P235.

my rims are 8x15. and I have 31x10.50 on it now. BFG

Mine came on 205/75-15s with 7x15 plain white wheels. I want to say they were Goodyears but they may have been Firestones. :D

Factory tires in the 70's were trackers in something like a 9.50x15 (old designations, but basically a 30" tire)
Factory tires in the 80's were P205/75/15. Dad's 85 Scrambler came with Michelins (still have them in the shop
Factory tires on wagon wheels (optional) in the 80's were 235/75/15

Look at Coker tire for vintage tires like military issue etc.

My '78 CJ5 still has the stock spare on the back... L78-15 made by Goodyear
