I just purchased a sway bar from Addco. Front Sway Bar 1 1/8" Diameter for 76-86 CJ7 and 72-83 CJ5 by Addco

I'm not exactly sure on the mounting location and am having some trouble finding any pictures. Everything I am finding states to "remove the old...", but in '75 they didn't come stock. Does anyone have any pictures they could share?

I am also realizing I need some type of linkage that the kit didn't come with.

Any advice?

You'll need some sway bar connects (or disconnects) and then your going to have to fab some frame brackets or find some later model ones and modify them to work with your frame. Nothing is going to bolt on. :(

I bought Addcos in the early 80s. They came with links and u bolts that threaded through the frame by drilling one hole on each rail. You can't access the inside of the frame rail because it's boxed there. Recently I remounted them using bolts. I'll try to take some photos tomorrow in the day light.

Did you get the rear one too?

Here how I mounted it. I had to drop it down 3/4" to clear the PS box. Bolts come from the inside out. The ends are a little different on yours, so you could eliminate the 90 degree block. I used 1/2" pins with hairpins for the quick discos. The link has 1/2" rod ends in a solid bar. Not hard to make on a small lathe.

Thanks for the pictures. I only got the front sway bar, I'm hoping for it to make a big difference.

I just purchased a 75 CJ5 and want to install a front and possibly rear sway bar, I was wondering how your front turned out, what all you had to do and purchase to make it work, any tips for me, what difference you have noted, and whether or not you think the rear sway bar would offer much difference. Thanks, Cory

I used 3 1/4" pieces of flat bar. Bent them all the same and welded the ends.
