So I'm not sure if the PO is on crack, or rock auto for listing these for my year/make, or me for not knowing :)

The sway bar link bushings that I took out are one piece (see bushings in bottom of photo), and to be honest they look exactly like shock bushings. The new link bushings I ordered are two pieces (see bushings top of photo) to make up one bushing (4 per side; top and bottom). The came in a car quest box, but they are MOOG part #90027 and listed as for my Jeep on summit I've just never replaced end link bushings before.

So which is the correct part?

A. PO's part.
B. Rock Auto part.
C. Drink a beer while waiting for response to forum post.
D. B AND C
E. C only
F. NONE of the above.

Seriously...I have no clue.

mine were the one piece, not sure if they were stock or not. The two piece would be easier to put in though.
 
Actually, both are probably correct.

The one piece are probably aftermarket poly bushings. Look like the ones I used to replace the worn ones. Or could be rubber OEM or aftermarket.

The two piece are probably as you said, original rubber shock bushings. No reason they won't work just as they do on the shocks. AMC probably used them originally.

The parts manual doesn't even list the bushings.:D

AMC used the shock bushings for the shocks and one of the two piece shock bushings for the Dana 300 shifter bushing. So could very well have used them for the sway bar.

So if you don't use them for the sway bar, keep one or two to replace the worn one for the t case shifter, and give a couple to friends for their t cases.
 
Cool...thanks for the replies. They seem to fit, so I can't complain. I should be nicer to the PO haha, but I keep running into strange things as I tear this down and rebuild it. Lots of "are you serious?!" moments.

On another topic, do I need to press the endlink pins in? I ask because I set the sway bar in place loose until I finish the suspension bushings and of course there's only a nut on one side and it just spins.

I could hold it with some vice grips I'm sure, but I can just press it all the same. The took a few thumps with the hammer to get out, but everything is stuck on this Jeep, so I don't know if they're pressed or just giving me trouble.
 
Pressed in? Kinda. It is a bit of tapered fit IIRC. Like ball joints. Maybe a couple wacks with the hammer until it seats a bit and you can tighten the nut.

Might want to lube the bushings a bit, as well as the sway bar to frame bushings to keep the squeaking away. I use a teflon lube as it is supposed to be water and heat resistant.
 
There OEM rubber so they shouldn't squeak...well I hope so anyway. I read too many threads about poly and couldn't decide since I'll be on the street a lot with this Jeep too.

Ended up with poly motor/tranny mounts and OEM rubber everywhere else. Luckily we have the internet these days (thanks to Al Gore of course :D) or I would have been cussing at my decision: those spring eye bushings would have been a bear without an impact gun and a harbor freight u joint/bearing installer!
 
It's a CJ! It IS GOING TO SQUEAK, it doesn't care about rubber or poly.:D
