Ran this one for the second time this past week, the first time was back in the summer of 2012. It was not affected by the floods this past fall.

Fun little trail, I went in my CJ5 and with two stock JKs, (one sport unlimited, the other a 2 door Sahara) I was VERY pleased with my CJ5 ! :) This thing is amazing, when I drop it into 4lo it just goes! It out performed both of the JKs, going up and down the rocks (to be fair, they had thier sway bars connected :D ). Since I have my shocks from a 2.5" lift and 1.5" shackles, I get some good articulation and the ride is fairly comfortable. The stock CJ5 seats are killing my lower back though, I think I will throw in a lumbar pad or something until I can afford new seats.

The only issue I had was the Dana 300 became loose on the way back down; I noticed this when the shifter began to jolt violently with each bump. I fixed it by tightening the T-5 to Dana 300 bolts, this got me home, and I re-torqued the bolts again when I got home.

We tried to run Middle St. Vrain early in the morning but the gate was locked; a fellow Jeep owner (In a killer 68' commando  ) told us the gate had been unlocked later in the afternoon, so I'll be running that trail soon.

Pictures!

Cool pics and videos :chug: However, I'm a little bummed that there were no pics of the crash site :poke:

You are not supposed to remove anything but I think alot of the small parts have walked off over the years. Whats left is still pretty cool to look at.

:notworthy: Thank you sir! Now the thread title matches the thread :chug:

When I was in the service (USAF) part of our job was crash investigation. I'm amazed there wasn't more fire. The plane probably came apart in the trees or splashed on the rocks. Most crashes are almost eliminated completely by fire. Aluminum and magnesium don't stay around long when firs is involved.

About the trail. Maybe I'm more of a trail guy that I thought, out here in the desert that would be a fairly typical road/trail. But we don't have the big trees.

Having a sandy desert is mostly in the movies. Around here if you are in any sort of hilly ground or mountain area hard rock is more likely what you'll find.

Looked at the video, other than the trees, which adds to the technical side of things, the trail looks fairly typical of many of the roads we use around here. Then again I haven't been there and mtnwhlr likely knows more than I do about this trail.
