i have a T-176 that wont go into 3rd 0r 4th gear the 3/4 synchro wont move out of the neutral position the 1/2 will i can turn the clutch input shaft and it spins what is the deal

Can you give us some more details? Transmission still in Jeep? Did this just start happening? Did someone recently "rebuild " it? The more background you can give, the better.

It was siezed up from where it has been sitting in storage i took a rubber mallet and gave it a smack it broke loose.i cleaned it as best as i could and put it back in for the 3rd time i guess they sweat or something condensation or may have set out in the rain before i owned it

I busted 2 teeth off of 2nd in a T-150 and had the T-176 laying around the shop thought it would be a quick fix and back on the road. I have a 78 CJ5 chrysler 360 with a cam and headers edelbrock intake and carb and 37's on 17 inch wheels i had to change clutch pp throw out and pilot bushing and have both driveshafts, rear shortened to 15 1/2" front lengthened to 36"every cj ive ever owned has been 3 speed i hope i like the 4 speed T-176 im gonna rebuild the T-150 and ive kept the clutch pp and throwout and pilot and driveshafts that fit with that set up just incase.

I would pop the top cover off to get a look at what is inside. It sounds like something is bound up (obviously), hopefully it wont lead to a complete rebuild and ends up being something easy. If it needs parts or rebuilding, contact Novak. When I rebuilt my T19 I got the rebuild kit from them for it.

i did and the 3/4 shift sleve was siezed due to rust i gave it a smack with rubber mallet it freed it up i cleaned it as best i could it shifts smooth i dont know how much it hurt it i guess time will tell

Love it when a plan comes together ;)

So after driving around with the T-176 , are you still going to rebuild T-150 and use it ? I have a T-150 / Dana 20 combo someone gave me years ago. Been thinking of just scraping it.
