The little clip to hold the shift lever to the Transmission was broken when i acquired my CJ7 and I can’t find any aftermarket shift levers for a T-4 . My question is, does the clip keep the shift lever pretty tight or does it allow a lot of slop in the lever, like what I have found most older vehicles to have. Is there any aftermarket solutions that I’m just not seeing?

Are you talking about where the 2 pieces of the shift lever join?
If so-Just put'em together-then drill through, and install a nut & bolt.

I suppose that’s what I am talking about. The lever can be pulled off the floor and there is a small like 3” piece that the shifter slides over?

I did the drill and bolt deal to mine about 15 years ago, when mine came apart.
#10 bolt and nut did the job.
Use a GD5 bolt and ny-lok nut.

Just dug my extra I bought 15 years ago, out of the box. Got from Rugged Ridge. It is OMIX which is usually :dung: but is still working well. Decided at the time to buy 2 just in case. Worked great and tightened everything up. You need two parts. Isolator part # J3241481 and shifter handle clip # J3241239. Hope that helps. Was not pricey at all. Probably more than LGs nut & bolt. :)

I replaced these parts last year on a T-5 (I'm pretty sure it is the same parts for a T-4 ). I bought them at 4 wheel parts. Shifter Handle Isolator Part # CROJ3241481 and Shift Lever Clip Part # CROJ3241239. Total cost ~$10.00. It only took a few minutes to install.

Same parts. Has on package T-4 &. T-5 . About easiest thing ever installed on my jeep
