My chilton says to use Dexron II automatic Transmission fluid in my Borg Warner T-4 manual Transmission . Is this correct? I saw somewhere online to use Dexron 3 or 4. Just trying to figure out what's correct

Any syn. 75W90 gear oil is fine.
T-4 & T-5 are the same in oil usage.
Do NOT use ATF or standard gear oil.

Right around that time frame it was recommended by AMC to use atf in the aluminum manual trannys. The was changed shortly after even to an add on to the fsm for a heavier oil like a 75w-90.

Others may have luck in the desert or warmer climates of the south, southwest, using heavy gear lube but in the Northeast where your from I would recommend "not" using a heavy gear lube as 75/90.

If your interested in using what the factory, oil companies, and dealerships recommend it has to meet SM 9224 specs.
Two that do:

Amsoil synthetic manual synchromesh Transmission fluid 5W-20
Pennzoil part# 3501 = synthetic 5w-20
