what about the bell housing and input shaft or whatever its called?

Forget it.
The input shaft on the scout T-18 is different. So is the bolt pattern to the bell housing.
More trouble than it's worth (even if it was free)

When it comes to the T-18 you need to do all your home work before you even start looking. even if it came out of a jeep doesn't mean it will work in yours. There are a lot of ins and outs with this swap. spend some quality time with the Novak and Advance web pages, the truth is out there.
There are more than a few guys on CL and E bay that bought a "good deal" and are looking to get their money back. If your not careful you could become one of them.
From what I have seen the most efficient way to make the swap is to go with the ford truck T-18 with an adapter to the TC. This is the easiest set up to find.
I think if I was going to do a swap like this I would look seriously at the NP 435. It is about an inch shorter.

So true. Even if you find a T-18 from a Jeep it will be one that was mated to a Dana 20 TCase so it won't work as well as a ford T-18

well :dung: what would be the easiest swap for me if i cant find another T-5 ?

Easiest is to put in another T-5 but the T-5 is light duty.
2nd easiest would be a Ford T-18 if you get it with the TCase. (other ford trannys may also work) Now you will be buying the tranny and the TCase. Make sure the TCase front output is on the right.
3rd alternative would be to buy a Ford tranny and a kit to adapt the tranny to your TCase. With the T-18 that would entail rebuilding the tranny with a new main (output) shaft.
Although I have been talking about the T-18 there are also other choices but these may entail replacing the drive shafts since they are different lengths:
NP435 - Ford
SM465 - GM
SM420 - GM
Go with a Ford Transmission . They will be easiest to mate to your engine but even if it comes out of a GM all of the above can be made to work.
When you are considering a purchase investigate the details by contacting Novak or Advance Adapters. If the buyer tries to rush you into purchasing on a weekend or some other time you can't check out the details then walk away. There are a lot of odd trannys out there that the seller won't be able to sell without trying to rush the buyer into buying something that won't work.

The 2 options that I know won't entail replacing the drive shafts is getting another T-5 and putting in a Ford T-18 .
The Advanced Adapters adapter for the T-18 is the correct thickness so that your TCase will be in the same location as stock and therefor you can reuse your drive shafts.

so i think my best bet is to ride on my T-5 till it wont go anymore then look for a new T-5 then down the road when i got more $ swap to the ford T-18 . maby by the time i all this takes place maybe ill come across a cheap cheap T-18 from an idiot haha. ill let yal know what happens.

Thanks for all yals help!
