im taking my booster off my CJ7 , (doesnt work) and i just wanted to throw a regular master cylinder on it. will the rod from the booster shorten enough to accommodate the regular master cylinder or will i need a new rod?

:)Pictures would help..........If you have a linkage adaptor between the booster and the firewall that probably will not work..........also if that Jeep came stock with Power Brakes there is a host of other issues that also need to be addressed:
  • The stock hole in the firewall will have 4 bolt holes while the master cylinder has only 2........although they could have been factory punched.
  • The pedal ratio for the Power system is slower than for the Manual brakes so the pushrod coming from the pedal needs to be relocated. In some cases the swing pedals will already have the extra hole punched but I have seen some sets that required a new hole to be drilled. The push point for the Manual system is closer to the fulcrum point whereby the pedal swings from, usually by about 1".
  • The brakes lines up front will also need to be changed as the reach is much shorter.......you didn't mention whether or not you had Disc's up front.........but that proportioning valve if there is one may also need to be changed.
Good Luck
