So you're a firm believer in the old adage "real Jeeps have round headlights?" Unless you've got the bucks for a newer TJ or JK, you'd better get cozy with your tool box and welder because older CJ models are plagued with their fair share of issues. We're laying out ten common problems for the '76-'86 CJs, some of which apply to the older '73-'75 intermediate models as well. Well that does it for me JP magazine says my CJ is a POS we are off to the crusher first thing in the morning.:(

But wait!!

I just noticed that each one of the chronic problems found in CJ’s has a solution and strangely enough each solution starts with me sending a substantial amount of money to one of JP’s advertisers. Now isn’t that a coincidence?:wtf:

Well considering these things are 30 plus years old and many still on the road(and off the road) and going strong albeit with a bit of TLC I think Jeep did OK.
How were they to know owners would be putting on 33" and larger tires as standard practice?
 
I'm not so sure about JP any more. They used to be the Gods of Jeeps. 6 issues a year. I think they sold out to a big corporation. Most of the articles are two pages and leaving you saying ' where is the rest of the story?' They did a SOA and several years later actually admitted they didn't like it and went SUA. How many people followed this bad example? Heck I've probably owned my CJ longer than they are old. Rocks are cool, but most old CJs are happy running local trails and will never make it to Moab. It doesn't take 42" tires and 4 link suspension to have fun. I don't need 600hp and Dana 60s. The 10 day, 2000 mile trail rides are crazy. Take your time and smell the roses.

Yes, I'll still renew my subscription, but take them for what they are - Entertainment.
