I bought a replacement TF999 for my 82 CJ7 and have pulled the old one and swapped my Transfer Case over and replaced all the seals. I am getting ready to put it back in but want to know if there is anything special I have to do other than bolt everything back up the way it was. I am using my torque converter that I already had since I cant afford to buy a new one. It didnt seem to have any problems prior to me removing the Transmission . I am going to drain the fluid out of it and make sure there are no metal flakes or discolored fluid in it. Do I need to put any fluid back into it before I re-seat it back in the Transmission ? Thanks for the help.

Yes!! You need to put a quart of fluid into the torque converter before you put it on.

And remember that a auto Transmission will take up to 12 quarts of fluid (OR MORE) before it is full. Check your owner's manual or do the research to find out exactly how much to put in before you start the engine. then top it off as needed.

Thanks, Ill let you know how the install goes. Hopefully I can get it back in later this week or early next week.

Well I finally got the Transmission back in tonight. I still have to get the skid plate back in and refill all the fluids. It turned into way more of a project than I had thought. I really hope everything fires up and works right when i get to do it. Thanks for all the help everyone on this forum has helped out so much and given me the confidence to take on these tasks.
