The Carter pre stepper motor is just a misunterdstood unit. I cleaned mine once a year and it ran just fine for many years and passed emissions with no issues. Now the stepper motor era, I would agree with that statement.
 
Ah yes the good ole carter Ball and Ball Design....... I had one on my Dodge Dart my pick up and my Jeep On my buddies YJ and my other buddies Pick up........ HAD being the operative word. Its a great carb when it works and is not warped or worn out but when they act up its nearly impossible to get right. I am so glad they are all gone :D
 
in reality I never really had that many problems with the ones I had, other than keeping them clean. I guess I found it interesting that there was a poster expressing what most of the free world seems to feel about them.:D
