Can you guys check me on this please:

got some 15x8 rims and the new tires are 235-75R15.

I wasn't thinking about it much when I ordered the tires but now I think they may not be wide enough. They are just a tiny bit wider than stock but that's for 7 inch wide rim.

Do you think these tires will be wide enough for 8 inch rims?

Checking the metric-inches chart, it looks like those equate to 29x9.3"
On paper it should work

Thanks hole. The stock tire was 225-75R15 but on a 7 inch rim so I wanted to make it a little wider and went for the 235 but I think I should have gone more to a 245-ish. I just don't want it to look stupid skinny. I hate that look. I want there to be enough on the sides so I can air it down a little when I need some more traction and such....

My old girl came to me with stock sized tires (28"x8") on 7" rimes. I didnt really think they looked too skinny, but they definitely looked too short to me ;).
Ran those for the first year or so because they had decent tread left and I was trying to figure out the direction I was going to take her. The first 4 day excursion trip across the Mojave Trail began to shape that vision better, and the next couple 4 day trips in random places in the Mojave Desert cemented the path my 8 would take the next couple of years to get her to where she is today. She's running 32's (still on stock 7" rims) now and will likely go 33's on the next set, but the last thing left to do improvement wise is gearing as I'm still running 2:73's.

Do the gear change for the 33's.
Your driveline will thank you, and you'll really like the performance change.

Yea I'm at 3.54 and 31s and that is pretty good. 32s and I might go lower, 33s would be a probably definitely go lower.

Tires should be mounted sometime next week so i'm hoping to get a few pics then.
Later i'll be going to 33's on these same 15x8 rims when i do the gear chang like you guys are saying.

With your 4-speed tranny. I suggest 4:10 R&P.
What type of carrier will you go with?

LG that's a future project. After installing the engine & Transmission I'm rebuilding and maybe upgrade the Dana 300 in all that. If I do the 4 to 1 on the Dana 300 I will want to test that combo first to see if I even need to go there. I actually like the 3.54 R&P on the highway

You will love the 4:1 t'case. One of the best mods I ever did.
Trust me-You will still want the 4:10 R&P, for all the time you are not in 4LO. ;)

Agree with Lumpy, the 4-1 ranks right up there. For me, having a 5-1 first gear, in low range I have no complaints with 2:73's. Highway on flat ground, I have no complaints with 2:73's. Mild hills, no complaints. Steeper than that and I have to downshift to 3rd @45mph until things flatten out some. Steep grades where I'm at do exist, but not enough for me to cough up big money to be able to go faster than 45 uphill once and a while

Above 4-5K', even on flat ground you'll feel like you are going up hill with 2:73. ;)
That ratio is putting a lot of torque load into your tranny and t'case.
