I've been looking at this old 911 at my Buddy's shop for weeks now (he doesn't usually usually service metrics) so I asked him what's the deal? He says "it belongs to an older guy who can't pay his bill yet so here it sits". I'm aware of the recent spike in prices of classic German cars and I call the guy. I offer $20,000 cash plus pay his $1,800 shop bill. He jumps at it, deal done 3:00 this afternoon. When I get home I look up the Hagerty value for a 1967 Porsche 911: $69,250.! and that's for average condition. With some minor interior work this car will be at least average. It's always been a CA car, rust free with great paint, straight body (not even a door ding), low miles, 2 owner, number matching, original and unmolested. I feel a little guilty now but this is the kind of find we're all looking for, right? I'm stoked!

Nice find. If you keep it up, You're going to have all the cool toys.

WOW  That's crazy, pictures, I want pictures!!!! I can understand the that kind of pit of your stomach "did I do something wrong" feeling, but you didn't... Obviously the guy you bought it from was in some kind of financial troubles and didn't know/didn't care about what he had. You've given it a better home, like a rescue dog :D

Oh, it'll have a good home but I haven't even taken delivery for pictures yet! Of all the vehicles I've bought and sold over the years this one seems to have me the most excited and is by far the best deal. The 911 is also going to look correct in the garage parked next to my restored '72 BMW 2002. Hope the wife doesn't ask me to sell one, but if I do I'll have a pile of cash in my pocket!

Wow, sounds like you made out like a bandit. Congrats, I love the 911's they always have struck a cord with me. Good luck and post up some pics when you can.

Agreed. That is one vehicle my wife and I agree on. Except she wants a newer one and I want a classic. So there's the rub. But great for you to find that deal. Can't wait for the pics. Both as it sits and after you wash it/clean it up a bit.

Pictures ASAP. Those are very rare and very desirable. 20k for one is insane. Check the vin to verify. Gas Monkey garage had a '66. But they bought it as a '67. Checked the vin and realized what they had. The value difference between the two years was huge.

Very very nice. That said, if you think Jeeps are money pits--------------------------------

That is just fantastic. Very nice.

Way too cool. I'd be flipping it counting cars style.

That's a beautiful car and a well negotiated purchase.
Good for you!

Nah, I'm gonna drive it for awhile. It's fun as hell and money in the bank (unless I crash it of course)

That happened to my neighbor about a year ago with his 911. All he did was scratch some of the original paint on the bumper on a parking curb and it dropped the value a significant amount. It now just sits in his garage along with his others.

I couldn't let it just sit in the garage, I know me. Besides, its better for the car to be driven. Plus, the car isn't perfect and the paint isn't original anyway. I've fully restored my '72 2002 and am so careful about where I park, never drive in the rain, don't let it sit in the sun, etc. that it's kind of a pain in the ***. This 911 is going to be a relief in a way. I'm going to have fun with it, that's what it was made for.

Car is basically done after much research and late hours in the garage. Complete new period correct interior amongst a hundred other things. I love this car and have become quite attached. It's a keeper, I'm not selling it.
