i was wondering if all the power steering stuff from a yj work on a cj. i know a guy who has the box, pump, brackets, and hoses. thanks

just wondering if anyone knows this, i can get a hell of a deal on this stuff if they will work. thanks

I did allot of reading and searching on this...

What YJ box? A saginaw? What engine is the donor vehicle and what is your vehicle (your AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l )?

mine is a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l and the yj is a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . i havent looked at the stuff yet so im not sure. i only saw the water pump off it and it was different. im just not sure what mopar all changed on the yj. i just know of the headlights and leaf springs being different. if he has the booster and master cyl i might switch it to power brakes to.

well i looked at both pics of the boxes at work. they both look the same.

is there anything else i would have to change like the steering shaft or anything esle since i have manuel steering.

well i picked up the pump and bracket. does anyone have a pic of a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with power steering so i can see how it bolts to the engine. now all i need is the steering box and drop pitman arm. is there anything else you guys think i might need. is the steering shaft the same?

Not great piks, but If you need any specific ones let me know and I'll snap a couple for you. You won't need the arm unless you are running more than 2.5-3" of lift. You will need the lower steering shaft.

thanks coldwater. can you get one lookin straight at the engine.

I'll try to get some before the sun goes down today.

i looked for the lower part of the steering shaft at work and cant find one. anyone know where i can get one of these or should i just go searching for a used shaft for power steering.

Do you still need this pic?
