The first time I noticed the buzzz noise from above my windshield I ignored it as usual. Several years later I dropped the top and removed the two piece retainer for the tops edge. I expected to find routed out screw holes. I did not expect to find more than needed. Another reason the windshield leaks. I did not want to put in bigger screws that would give the same results. The solution that seems to have worked well for me is to install threaded nut certs. I went in and marked the true holes, drilled through with a 7 mm bit and inserted a 5mm cert. Re installed the retainers and was able to bottom out the 5mm nut. Solid fastener to a problem that went on too long. A good 45 minute job to do start to finish. And yes, I know, "buy a new windshield."
