Exciting event footage from the 1st ever, "Thrill on the Hill" Jeep Rally hosted near Cloudcroft, New Mexico by Desert Sun Auto Group. This new addition to the Thrill on the Hill event had all the thrills, hills and fun of the FJ event, laced with all the action the Jeep participants brought to the table and they didn't disappoint. 5 minutes after the arrival of the film crew, at 11 P.M. we were chasing jeeps through the creek beds and trying to keep up with and capture all the fun they were having at the Camp of the Tall Pines. Not one hour into the action a jeep was laying on is side. Both Tony and I had no problem finding exciting action footage on the trail and we thank you all for letting us be a part of the very first Jeep- Thrill on the Hill.

Looked like a good time.

That is what a Jeep event is all about, thanks for sending that in.

I disagree... somewhat. And not to take away from the video, great job on that. I don't like to see all these sponsor rigs with every aftermarket part available bolted on. I understand they need their money but I think they should be more geared to the average Jeep drivers with only slightly modified rigs. With these sponsor rigs, which are usually designed for rocks, it usually guides the event towards rock obstacles rather than a trail ride which has a bit of everything and still doable by only lightly modified rigs, but challenging nonetheless. It's different than going with a handful of rigs on a saturday, these events have to fit more folks and varying rigs.

And I may be wrong since it's 2 days crammed into an 8 minute video. I'm just a trail guy who's more of a man and machine type who likes to explore trails and logging roads where normal vehicles don't tread. I drive a Jeep not a buggy. Those are a different story. A Jeep grille bolted on a buggy doesn't make it a Jeep.

So, do I have this right. The idea seems to be all about breaking high dollar equipment. Sorry I work to hard for my money to just waste it. Besides the only Jeep part of most of those vehicles are the tin sitting on specialty frames. Try not to get me wrong, I don't mind getting out there and gettin' her done. My Jeeping is about getting somewhere and seeing something new to me. BusaDave9's style is more in line with my way of Jeepin'.

That's the thing about jeeps, if you enjoy trail riding than that's how you build your jeep. If you enjoy more challenging things like rock climbing than you build the jeep geared to that. It's all good, just depends on what you like to do.:)

But is conquering an obstacle with a vehicle modified specifically to overcome that obstacle via aftermarket equipment more challenging than conquering different obstacles with a near factory stock vehicle? Generally it's tougher to do the same with less.

All I'm saying is that having had everything from a bone stock cj to the one I built now is that you build them for what you enjoy doing.
I can tell you it's much more fun to drive through an obstacle than to winch through one, and if it takes parts other than stock, than so be it.
While I enjoy trail riding I also enjoy playing in the rocks so stock just won't work for me.

Pretty cool video, looks like a fun time. I would love to ride along for that, but I think it would be a bit extreme for my blood. Does look like a hell of an exciting time and a fun trip though.

Right, and I agree. It just seems like that's the trend nowadays, rock crawling. I would much rather see a video of or participate in, like Hedgehog said, BusaDave's style. I guess that's because it's what shaped my liking of off roading at a young age and the only type I've ever participated in thru the years, organized or with just a few rigs locally.

I like trail riding personally, but also LOVE the challenge of playing in the rocks, especially on the Rubicon Trail.

There were a lot of times I wished on the trail that I'd had lower gearing, so I swapped in a Chevy 4 speed SM420 with 7:1 first gear. Definitley not stock, but its what I wanted...

I'm a mix of both ends. I like to ride the trails and see the views, and I also get excited when I see the trail get rough and offer up challenges.

Nice video. I enjoyed watching it. Looks like they were all having a good time. THAT'S what jeeping & off-roading in general is all about in my opinion. Have fun, be safe, and enjoy the machine you spend so much time and effort creating and maintaining however you choose to do so.
