Tie Rod End

should just be standard threads righty tighty lefty loosey

The last time I bought ends I got 1 right and 1 left thread.
I don't remember which one went where though.
Remember to measere you rod end to end so you can get it close to the same lenght when you put it back together.
You can set the toe in yourself.

Off subject, did you get your tube steps on yet?

I got the tie rod end off after a long struggle with hammer and a few back strains later but it is off.

I forgot to update you Old Dog. I bought those steps without looking or thinking. I have fenderwell headers and have no way of mounting them. I have a friend looking at buying a CJ and I am going to give them to him because with my 304V8 and automatic Transmission I doubt I will ever be able to mount them. Thanks for the follow up I do have the roll bar cover on.

schooncj7 and tube steps

Schooncj7, I have an '80 CJ7 and 304CID AMC with mufflers beneath each front seat and 90 degree turned exhausts just in front of each wheel..... and big tube steps.

If you'd like to see a pic or two, I'll take a couple this afternoon and post tomorrow. I gotta be on my back again disconnecting front (bent, not my work tho) drive shaft.

Before you commit, it would be worth a look. My machine has 35's and is a long step up. Without those tubes, I'd be riding alone most of the time; my bride (118 pounds) doesn't like the struggle to get mounted up.

BTW, the front drive shaft u-joint caps have a six-point rorqx bolt had holding the straps, one that needs a six-point socket. The back drive shaft straps are fastened down by a torqx screw with a recessed center requiring a bit, like the screws on the rear end diff cover.

I'm gonna get a whole bag of hex-head bolts and change 'em all out. I got more tools UNDER the Jeep than I have on my workbench!

Yeah pics would be great!

Tube steps:

Here's how it looks on this slightly-lifted CJ7 . Some welding and maybe a mounting plate fab needed, but doesn't look too hard.

I don't think I'd like to get by without these. There is a bolt-on stirrup clamp-mounted on each side. One on driver side spins, but I bought to spray-on anti-skid goo to bind to the clamp liner and hold the load.
