What is the trick here? I have used a pickle fork, tie rod puller, beat on the castle nut end. WTF is there anything worng with hitting it on top where the castle nut is? Will it hurt the steering knuckle?

Stressed out!

Can't be that bad. Are you at a good angle when you hit? Spray it and let it sit. Wait til tomorrow a.m. Worst case, start cuting stuff off with a cutting wheel:)

Put a little heat on the area surrounding it.:):)

Yep. Try heating up the steering arm then immediately use the pickle fork.

I finally got it. i was worried about hammering on the pitman arm out of fear i would mess it up. So, i hammerred in the pickle fork pretty good and let it sit there. I then prayed it down with WD-40. Left it for an hour, can back and wacked it again. it popped off!

Thanks!

Yup.. A good praying always gets it done.

You hammer on the part the end connects to / shock the tapered part ….. They pop off every time.

Pickle forks just chew up the rubber
Hammering the nut / threaded end just screws up the threads.
