Tierra Sel Sol Jeep Club
As our under-the-weather Ali Mansour mentioned in the prior blog, Tierra Del Sol (TDS) held its annual Jeep Safari this weekend. The Safari was held just a mile or so away from its original location.
If you are familiar with the event you, or if you are not, it was moved from its original location due to environmental concerns and a few other issues. This old camp and headquarters was located just west of the Salton Sea.
I think the initial move away from the original spot killed the events history and participation, but that’s only speculation on my part. I don’t know the official attendance numbers at the moment, but I would say that participation was up. I think far more four-wheel enthusiasts showed at the event and had a great time and wheeling the Truck Haven Hills.
The geography of this are is arid desert with tight washes, deep canyons, and high desert mesa’s. The hills climbs to the top of the mesas and the descents on some trails are intense.
If you are interested in next years event check out the Tierra Del Sol Four Wheel Drive Clubs web site. www.tds4x4.com
