tilt steering column angle

I put a tilt column in my 73 CJ5 a few months back but it doesnt seem to be at the same angle as the later model ones that came with the gm style column. I haven't cut the dash out to fit around it yet and before i do could someone tell me how far down the holes in the firewall and the dash are from an easily measured point like the top of the dash or cowl. Also how far it sticks out from the dash and at what angle it's at would be helpful if possible.
