what gearing is best to run 35-37 inch tires ?

4.88s is as low as you can go with the stock axles, assuming it has a Dana 30 and AMC20 , 35s you can get away with 4.10, 37s 4.88

I'd go 4:56 or better yet 4:88 as cheep said.

Just mounted some 35" tires. I'm running 3:73 gears not to bad.
I do have Dana 44 's a T-18 and a Dana 300 . I also have a webber carb.

I could use some help. I am fixing up my sons 78 CJ7 .

It has 32 x 11.50 RR on chrome wheels. Apparently the older size restricts wheel and tire purchases. Should I consider going to a more modern size.

Two of the tires are a discontinued Firestones. One option is to replace two of them and keep the wheels.

Not sure what you meen, I've never had any trouble finding 15" tires or rims.

Heres a few options still available in that size. Your wheels should be standard 15 x 8 and wont restrict your tire size. These are from a search for 32 x 11.5 on tire rack.com.
