I just put a fresh 360 in my 83 CJ7 . I had no problems with the tranny (TF 999 3 spd auto). I started it up and ATF comes running out of the bell housing. So I pulled the tranny and replaced the seal behind the T-convertor. Put it back together with fingers crossed....Fired right up. Goes through all the gears and continues to piss out from under the convertor. The fluid is foamy and aerated and don't know where it's coming from. I didn't see any signs of the pump seal or the hole at the top. What gets me is it didn't do this before. wtf? Anything guys??

Hmmm the Torqueflite only has 1 seal around the converter and the vent hole inside the bell housing, did you swap engine types? change converter? did you mess with the oil pump bolts? overfilled the tranny?

I take it that no one has experienced this symptom. It is indeed mind boggling Anne makes no sense at all. I also bypassed the oil cooler and cut out any possible crimps in the tubing, in case it was creating back pressure and pushing out foamy juice. No change.can the converter make this kinda pressure and feed it back through the pump seal?.hmmmm

I wonder if you have the wrong seal so its not fitting tight aginst the converter or its missing the little spring in the seal. Is this a new converter? If not is there a grove it it so the seal does't fit tight? I would look into how tight the seal fits around the converter.

Was there a manual tranny bolted to the motor before, if so the pilot bushing might be still be in the end of the crank.

Also when is talking the torque converter, ensure then you are installing it, turn it clockwise and it should drop 2 times and sit snug by the tranny.
