transfer case seal replacement

hey guys I have a 73 CJ5 (AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ) and the front drive shaft seal is leaking on the Dana 20 . Whats the procedure for changing it

If it's just the oil seal at the front output, you might can get by with just dropping the driveshaft, pulling the yoke, pulling the seal, and replacing. I never done it, but if you don't want to pull the tcase and mostly disassemble it, it's worth a try. You'll probably need to drill (or thread screws) into the seal to get it out and you'll need a piece of pipe to fit over the output shaft to reinstall it.

What Jp360cj said. Drop that side of the driveline and pull the yoke. Sometimes places such as auto zone or O'rileys have lip seal removers. It's basically how he described but the screw attaches to a slide hammer. And for install, as he said, cut a piece of pipe the diameter of the seal to fit over the shaft. Tap it in, re-install the yoke and torque it. Best of luck my friend!
